Hours after Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, zoning committee recommended that the National Chairman of the party be zoned to the North, President Muhammadu Buhar’s Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad, said this might suggest the end of the road for some presidential hopefuls from the north.
Earlier, JOURNALIST101 reported that the Governor OF Enugu State led zoning committee recommended the swap of the zoning arrangement used in 2017. This means that the Chairman will come from the North while the Secretary comes from North.
Though the committee said their mandate does not include zoning the Presidential ticket, Bashir says the development is capable of crippling Atiku Abubakar, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s presidential ambitions in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday evening, Bashir described the development as a sign of democracy.
The post reads, “So the opposition party, PDP has zoned its national chairman to the North, this recent development may rule out the possibility of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and others from the region from running for president under the party in 2023.
“This is democracy”!
