…Anambra Governor, Obiano absent again.
The governors of the South East geo-political zone and other stakeholders in the region, including the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo are currently meeting at Lion Building, Government House, Enugu State.
The meeting JOURNALIST101 gathered that the meeting is expected to discuss extensively, the insecurity situation that’s threatening peace in the region.
Before the commencement of the meeting, the leaders observed a minute silence for all those who have lost their lives to the security challenges in the country especially in the South East zone.
Present at the meeting is the host, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, the Chairman of the South East Governors forum, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Abia State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu is standing in for his Governor while Anambra State Governor is conspicuously absent and didn’t send any representative.
Also present are National Assembly members from the South East geo-political zone, former Governors OF Abia, Theodore Orji and Ebonyi, Martins Elechi, former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd), leaders of the religious and traditional institutions from the zone including leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Whatever is discussed should be followed up immediately.
They should avoid using force. The best approach now is DIALOGUE! DIALOGUE!! & DIALOGUE!!!
Any thing outside dialogue is equivalent to having said or done nothing.
The best approach to all these agitations in the South East is the adoption of the Yar Adua/GEJ approach.
Ostracizing the youths or using the PMB language of “We have crushed them” rather than solve this problem, aggravates it the more.
They should be bold to tell PMB and his people that NEPOTISM is the major cause of all uprisings and disenchantment in the country. There is excess marginalization of the South East in all spheres of existence in Nigeria and this must be stopped for peace to reign.
All you said is the truth and this is the best way to settle any violence and any dispute.
Dialogue is the short cut to resolution of disputes.
