The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection to the killing of two operatives of neighbourhood watch officers and burning three of their operational vehicles.

On the early hours of Tuesday, 5th October, 2021, unknown gunmen stormed the Neighbourhood Watch Organisation Office at Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State and shot dead the acting commander, Mr. Chinedu Uramah, his second in command and inflicted varying degree of injuries on other security agents on guard.

The attackers also burnt three vehicles belonging to the organization.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc who visited the scene of the attack for an on-the-spot assessment assured that the attackers must be brought to book, also commiserated with the family of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of those in the hospital.

The CP who spoke via a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe described the “act as senseless and has ordered the State CID to carry out full-scale investigation to fish out and bring the assailants to book.”

Ndukwe also disclosed that “three male suspects have been arrested in connection with crime and are helping ongoing investigation.”
