Activist and Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the arrest of popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana.
The Anambra-born club owner was reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged money laundering and tax fraud on Monday.
In his reaction to the arrest Deji wondered why the anti graft agency can arrest Obi Cubana while the likes of Abba Kyari and Former Lagos governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu are walking free stressing that it’s situation like this that necessitated his earlier call for caution which was misunderstood.
“When I told Obi Cubana to be careful, some people said I was jealous of him. It’s still much better to be arrested by EFCC than FBI. He should be celebrating that it’s EFCC. Calm down Obi. It’s not serious for now but it could get worse.”
“EFCC can arrest Obi Cubana but Abba Kyari is free. Tinubu the Bullion Van king is free Wonderful one Nigeria,” he wrote via his known twitter account.
Abba Kyari is an embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police who was suspended by the police after he was indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI over his involvement in a Fraud scheme orchestrated by disgraced fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abass a.k.a Hushpuppi.
Similarly, Deji, through his advocacy group had written a petition to the EFCC asking the commission to query the National leader of the leading All Progressives Congress, APC, after Bullion Van was found in his house during the 2019 election.
