The immediate former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has been turned back by a military commander who screamed at him as the supplementary election to conclude the governorship poll in Ihiala LGA is underway.

Umeh, who’s the state agent of the APGA said he’s in the council area to ensure things go well but the army commander wasn’t taking any of that and insisted that he’s not welcomed in the LGA since he’s not the local government area party agent.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed Tuesday for supplementary election in the council to complete the inconclusive guber race which started on Saturday.

At about 10am Mr Umeh arrived at the headquarters of Ihiala but a commander of the Nigerian Army accosted him querying what he came to do.

“You are not supposed to be here,” the military personnel screamed on top of his voice. The politician responded that he came “to ensure things go well”.

“You are a state agent, not LGA agent,” the Army commander said and ordered the APGA chief to return back to where he came from.

The supplementary poll is ongoing amidst tight security.

JOURNALIST101 reported that the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has the highest votes in the election, having secured victory in 18 of the 20 LGAs where election held while PDP and Young Democratic Party, YPP won in one LGA each.

The margin of lead is over 45,000 and Ihiala has over 148,000 registered voters.
