The Nigerian Army has released footage from the scene of the military offensive against the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists at Askira Uba, Bornu state on Saturday.
“Nigerian Troop still recorded a major success in same Askira Uba meeting engagement with ISWAP terrorists yesterday.
“Despite losing General Zirkushu & 3 soldiers, our troops gallantly fought and overwhelmed the ISWAP terrorists, killing scores,” a part of the communication by the communication from the army read.
The communication further stated that the troops, both air and land are still in pursuit of the terrorists while a good number of them, including their commander, spiritual leader were neutralized.
“Meanwhile it should be noted that ground and air troops are in pursuit of some of the terrorists who fled the encounter.
“In total, Ngerian troops eliminated a top-ranking Commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and no fewer than 38 terrorists by the time the dust had settled following the brutal military offensive at Askira Uba, Borno State.”
