Terrorists operating under the codename Bandits, on Monday attacked a Fulani settlement in Barakallahu community, Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, North West Nigeria, killing a man identified as Imam Abubakar.

The terrorists also made away with an unspecified number of cows.

According to Daily Trust, the District Head of the community, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, who confirmed the attack said the incident occurred around 12:15am.

According to him, “Around midnight, we began to hear shots being fired, they must have shot 50 times before they finally left the community.

“I am told that they killed one man and took away many cattle but I am yet to confirm the number. I am on my way to see the family right now.”

Although banditry is not a new phenomenon in Kaduna State, it was previously restricted to robbery and cattle rustling in rural communities in Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Giwa and Igabi local government areas. Kaduna then was only witnessing a spillover of the crime in the Kamuku, Kuyanbana and Falgore, a large forest spanning Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara and Sokoto states.
