A High Court sitting in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo, challenging her 90-day custodial sentence over her Instagram post which showed her posing naked with her seven-year-old son.
Recall that in April 16, 2021, Poloo was arrested, arraigned and sentenced to 90 days imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
However, her lawyers appealed the judgement considering it too harsh, urging the court to reconsider the sentence.
In a ruling on today, December 1, 2021, Justice Ruby Aryeetey upheld the Circuit court decision on grounds that the Circuit court’s decision was not manifestly excessive, stating that the actress will serve her sentence at the Nsawam Prison.
The court also ordered that her son should be placed in the care of a responsible person in the family.
