As we clamour for Equity, Fairness and Justice in the choice of Nigeria’s next president, its important will highlight the plight of two communities in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
This call is just as the state is getting set for the council election which is pivotal to rural development in our current democracy.

Your Excellency sir, above is the list of past Chairmen in Nkanu East.
Nkanu East is divided into North and South. The Northern part consist of two Development Centers- Nkanu East Central and Amankanu while the Southern part also consist of two Development Centers- Nkanu East South and Asu.
Nkanu East Central Development Center which comprises of Akpawfu, Amagunze and Ihuokpara with 3 wards has had a shot at the Chairmanship of Nkanu East 5 times while Amankanu Development Center which consist of Amankanu, Amechi Idodo, Oruku, Owo, Ubahu and Umuode with 3 wards has had the privilege of Chairing Nkanu East for two times.
In the Southern part, Asu Development Center which comprises of Nara and Ugbawka with 4 wards has Chaired Nkanu East thrice with both community that makes up the Development Center duly represented.
Nkanu East South Development Center which comprises of Mburubu, Nkerefi and Nomeh with 4 wards has had only a shot at the Chairmanship, which was in a Transition capacity.
His Excellency sir, knowing fully well that your core mantra for good governance is anchored on Equity, Fairness and Justice. It’s our earnest prayer, as we humbly appeal with you sir, that you beam your searchlight for the next Chairman of Nkanu East LGA from the communities that are yet to produced a Chairman in Nkanu East (South) Development Center which are Mburubu and Nkerefi.
