Wide Jubilation on January 2nd, 2022 enveloped the atmosphere as the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) Volunteer Club Team Rivers State Command arrived Opio Etche Community of Rivers State in the ongoing “POCACOV IN MY COMMUNITY” activity which is aimed at Reawakening the safety and security consciousness of the people in line with the tenets of the community based crime prevention strategies of the Nigeria Police Force for a safe, Peaceful and Secured Communities.
The Community members and leaders welcomed the POCACOV Team who also did not delay to engage community members with a speech by the National Coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu who was represented by the Rivers State Chairman of POCACOV Volunteer Club for safer community Amb Eke Onwuka.
Community members as well as youths and their leaders were reminded on the need for community to remain peaceful, safe and secured for development and growth to thrive.
They were also reminded on the dangers and consequences of Cultism, substance and drug abuse, violent behaviours and other vices. The effects of cultism and other vices on youths and community development were strongly emphasized and highlighted hence the charge for the youth to remain law abiding and focused with a view to rediscovering themselves for a greater tomorrow.
POCACOV also used the occasion to charge parents, guardians and caregivers on good parenting under ‘POCACOV in my family.’
“We have to demonstrate good parenting by expressing care and guide as well as supervision because the home is the immediate environment of any child and what he learn and practice there has a lot to do in our society hence all hands must have to be on deck for a greater society,” Amb Onwuka said.
The community and their leaders expressed joy and thanked the Nigeria Police Force on POCACOV Initiative. They also thanked the Inspector General of Police and appreciated Rivers State Commissioner of Police Friday Eboka.
Highlight of the event was the establishment and inauguration of Members of the POCACOV in My community volunteer Members for Opiro Etche Rivers State.
