The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that no life was lost during the tanker explosion at Onitsha in the early hours of Friday.

However, police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga in a chat with our correspondent said the situation is under control and their men and men of Anambra fire service are already on ground.

A fire explosion rocked Onitsha, Anambra State on Friday when a petrol tanker laden with premium motor spirit sparked fire at Obodoukwu junction along Onitsha River, Owerri road.

“No life was lost in the fire incident at Onitsha today 28/1/2022 at about 8:am.

“Information reveals that the cause of the fire is as a result of a tanker carrying fuel by Obodoukwu junction along Onitsha river owerri road falling off the road.

“The situation is under control and is closely monitored. The Police and fire service are currently on ground there.”
