The people of Agbogugu in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State have applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for prioritising the welfare of their people.
Speaking during the Nnafu Oyiyi Onwa-Ishi festival of Ndi-Agbogugu, the President General of the autonomous communities of Agbogugu, Pastor Basil Onyia, said they “are privileged as a people to have a Governor who is friendly, has a listening ear, grass-rooted, and above all, a Governor turned a loving father.”
Pastor Onyia, recalled the intervention of the Governor in restoring peace in their area when insecurity took centre stage and also, the various opportunities given to their people including automatic employment and political appointments.
“When there was security challenges along Awgu axis, you did everything within your power to restore peace in this axis to the extent that Awgu axis is now not just peaceful but the most peaceful among other axis in the state. You gave automatic teaching employment to our son, Ani chinedu.
“Your Excellency Sir, you also appointed our sons and daughters into political positions both at the LGA and state levels, we must confess that they are all doing well.
“It’s on this note we therefore, say that we found ourselves lucky among other towns in the state because you have always supported us.”
They also thanked the Governor for entrenching peace in their community which manifested in their just concluded igweship election.
Like Oliver Twist, the community appealed to the Governor to come to their aid in some of their infrastructural needs including the renovation of their market and schools as well as more political appointments.
They’re also appealed for a skill acquisition center to acquaint their teeming youths with crafts and trades and seek for partnership to promote their culture.
