Former Nigeria military head of state, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar has stated that country doesn’t need leaders with ‘walking stick’ to pilot her affairs rather, younger generations should be given the opportunity to pilot the affairs of the country.
Gen. Abdusalami stated this while receiving Prince Adewole Adebayo, a presidential aspirant, at his Hilltop country home in Minna.
The former military leader stated that governance has gone digital as against their time hence the youths who understand the time will make better leaders than the elderly ones whose minds are not compatible with the current happenings.
“Like you rightly said the world is going digital and I believe the younger generation are more exposed internationally in ICT more than the older generation”, he stated.
“I am happy that you are thinking of moving the country forward and I believe with your ideologies and your youthful and vibrant ambition, I think Nigeria is on the right part and wish Nigeria will be great.
“Thank you for finding me fit to come and visit me to tell me of your ambition. You can count on our support always trying to do the right thing”.
Prince Adebayo on his side hailed the former leader, likening to America’s Abraham Lincoln, for birthing democracy in 1999 where he relinquished power to a democratically elected leader
