At least 17 persons have been confirmed dead as a tanker carrying petrol crashes into a Mazda bus in ogun state.

The tanker belonging to Dangote group caught fire along the Lagos-Ibadan Express way, on Thursday morning at about 5am.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) spokesperson in the state who confirmed the incident said the operatives were only able to identify three persons that died in the accident as 14person were burnt beyond recognition.

She said “The total number of people involved is not ascertained, but a total of 17 bodies have been identified.

“One male, one female, and one female child only have been identified, while others were burnt beyond recognition and no injury sustained,” Ms Okpe said.

“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were route violation and dangerous driving, which resulted in a head-on collision and fire outbreak.
