There seems to be a twist in the story of the 19-month-old pupil, Obinna Udeze allegedly flogged to death by his teacher in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

If the reports from the two hospitals where master Udeze was treated before his painful demise is anything to go by, that means the little boy might not have died as a result of the flogging by his teacher.

According to a report by TVC news, Doctors of the two hospitals where he was last treated confirmed he was treated of vomiting and stooling before he died.

The little boy died on 12th February, 2022 at Federal Medical Center, Asaba.

Dr. Johnson Etolue, the managing physician of life value hospital where the child was first first treated said “he was admitted on account of severe stooling, vomiting and fever of three days duration. There was this alleged information that the child was flogged in school before presentation but on physical examination, there was no obvious bruises on the body, the child was actually not responding.”

But the mother of the deceased insists that the story of diarrhea isn’t true maintaining that her son died as a result of the flogging he received from his teacher.

“Obinna was in Life Value Hospital from Thursday till Saturday morning, he was wearing the same pampers, it’s still with me because they gave us the clothes, the pampers abs and the top he was wearing.

“So, if a child is stooling, it should be visible inside the pampers,” Mrs Udeze argued.

Reacting to the recent development, the Delta state Police Commissioner, CP Mohammed Ari, said he won’t authentic any rumour while advising everyone to wait for the result of the autopsy.

“We’re going to carry out diligent investigation as far as the death of that innocent baby is concerned. Investigation is still ongoing and the autopsy is yet to get to us. It’s not proper for anyone to have gone out there to tell the world that this is the cause of the death of the baby.”
