Details have emerged that the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of popular news outfit; Sahara Reporters is connected to the petition written by Prince Ned Nwoko.

It was earlier reported that the fiery activist was picked up after stepping out of the court where the chairman and members of the party had converged to witness a case.

But further information revealed that his arrest isn’t unconnected to a petition titled “ A petition against Sahara Reporters Foundation and Mr Omoyele Sowore for criminal defamation, injurious falsehood publication of news known to be false contrary to section 391, 392, 393, 394, 395 and 418 of the Penal code of Northern Nigeria” by former member House of Representatives, Prince Ned Nwoko through his lawyers Trifold Law & Partners.

SaharaReporters had in an exclusive report published on February 14th, 2022 said “Ned Nwoke, George Uboh, Ted and Nicholas Ukachukwu worked with Mallami to syphon over $400 million Paris club funding. Malami was promised to get 35% off each promissory note.

The report was titled: “EXCLUSIVE: How Attorney-General Malami Manipulated Buhari To Re-approve Payment Of $478million To Ned Nwoko, Uboh, Other Paris Club Consultants”.

The petition signed by Bryan U. Ukaegbu on behalf of the the law firm accuses Sowore of several defamatory statements on his news outfit, social media handles aimed at running down their client’s business and political career.

According to the petition the publications were believed to have been done recklessly with no honest belief in the truth of the said words. Stating further that the quoted statements have elicited intense apprehension of imminent attack on his client.
