Special Adviser to governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Levi Gbashi has been reportedly shot dead by gun men in the state.

Reports revealed that Gbashi was assassinated shortly after a funeral in Ityopaa, Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

An eye witness said himself and Gbashi were leaving the burial funeral when they were attacked by gun men that shot and killed him.

The eye witness said; “we were leaving for the venue of the burial on a motorcycle when some young men stopped us and ordered us to kneel.

“We refused to comply with their order as we bought time to attract the attention of the people who were around.

“One of them opened fire and shot at Gbashi three times and killed him instantly.

“He turned to me and the gun hooked. In the process of him running to get another gun from one of them, I ran and entered the crowd of people still at the venue of the burial”, he said.

The eye witness who identified himself as Tortsua Naagh said they gunmen took with them the corpse and went into the bush.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of Donga Local Government Area, Nashuka Ipeyen said the matter has been reported to security operatives who are already combing the bushes in search of the corpse.
