The Anambra State Police Command, have rescued 2 kidnap victims and recovered two vehicles used by unknown gunmen to cause mayhem in a part of the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, the rescue operation happened on Monday, 28th February at about 9pm. A white Toyota hilux truck, ash lexus 330 SUV was recovered by their operatives. Unfortunately, one life was lost as a result of the sporadic shooting by the hoodlums.
“The Anambra State Police Command Operatives on 28/2/2022 at about 9pm rescue abducted victim while responding to a distress call along Ekwulobia/Isuofia road, Aguata LGA. The Police Operatives also recovered a white Toyota Hilux Truck and Ash Lexus 330 SUV.
“Preliminary information reveals that the miscreants started shooting sporadically on entering cherry fuel station along Ekwulobia/Isuofia road. As a result of the shootings, one man who was later identified as Mr Sabatine Nwabueze was fatally hit by the bullet of the hoodlums and died in his car. The Operatives recovered the body and deposited it to the mortuary. The gunmen also abducted 2 persons who came to buy fuel as of the time of the incident.
“On the receipt of the information the CP immediately ordered the tactical teams of the command comprising of Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Forces and other units to compliment the existing security deployment in the area. During a hot chase by the police, the hoodlums abandon the abducted victims and flee.
“Meanwhile, Calm has since returned in the area and police operatives have also intensify patrol within the area and in the state.
“Further development shall be communicated please,” Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said in a statement on Tuesday.
