Fidelity Advert
Femi Fani-Kayode

There seem to be more trouble for Femi Fani-Kayode as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has admitted a letter from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), showing how he collected the sum of N26Million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had in 2018, arraigned Fani-Kayode on a five-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N26m and criminal breach of trust.

According to the letter tendered by the EFCC, Fani-Kayode received the said sum from the office of the NSA.

The trial which resumed on Wednesday saw prosecuting counsel, Farouk Abdullah telling the court that the matter was for continuation of trial and that the witness was in court.

Mohammed Goji who was presented as Prosecuting Witness Three, informed the court that he had a true copy from the office of the NSA to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), showing payments made to Fani- Kayode.

Defence lawyer, Wale Balogun did not object when the letter was tendered rather, he prayed the court to make an adjournment so he can cross examine the witness.

Justice John Tsoho granted the defence counsel’s plea adding that it is a criminal trial and the counsel needed time to prepare his Defence.

The matter was adjourned to May 3 2022 for cross examination of the third prosecuting witness.
