Gunmen has on Tuesday killed seven security operatives including a Divisional Police Officer, in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
Reports says the bandits first surrounded Nasko Divisional Police Office, where the killed the DPO, identified as CSP Umar Mohammed Dakingari, alongside two other policemen.
In a statement by the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, he said the bandits surrounded and attacked the police station at about 1pm on Tuesday and killed seven security operatives.
He said, “On 15/03/2022 at about 1300hrs, armed bandits/terrorists invaded Nasko village, Magama LGA of Niger State.
“Police operatives with vigilante members were immediately mobilized by DPO Nasko and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle in which some of the hoodlums were neutralised and others escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Unfortunately, during the gun battle, the DPO, two other policemen, and four vigilante members lost their lives,” the statement added.
DSP Abiodun stated that officer from the state area command have been drafted to the area along side military personnel to ensure peace is restored in the community.
