Political leaders from Enugu West Senatorial zone have told the former deputy president of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu that it’s too late for him to.say there’s no agreement on the rotation of Enugu State Governorship seat as he was present at the meeting and he equally contributed to the discussion.
Ekweremadu had on Friday, 11th March, 2022 during his meeting with the media said there’s no formal agreement on zoning in the state. The Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial zone during the parley maintained that neither Chimaraoke Nnamani, Sullivan Chime nor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was a product of zoning.
Senator Prince Ben Collins Ndu, while addressing the media in Enugu on Tuesday wondered why Ekweremadu whom he described as his brother and friend, “who was physically present in the caucus meeting and who’s also a Christian, told a big lie that there’s no zoning in Enugu State.”
Senator Ndu who’s the convener of Ife Emelumma Enugu West stated categorically that “there’s written zoning and rotation of governorship position in Enugu State and this is validated by a motion adopted and signed by more than 50 participants that included among others; Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, Engr. Vita Abba, etc.”
According to the document sighted by our correspondent, Senator Ekweremadu “strongly harped on sustaining and protecting the peace and stability that has been prevailing in the state over and above any other subsisting interest.
“Finally, he unequivocally agreed to abide by the resolutions of the Caucus especially the choice of Enugu North Senatorial District for the next gubernatorial candidate” part of the document reads.
Ndu also noted that “during the Ife Emelumma Mega Rally at Awgu last August, all the stakeholders and leaders of thought, including the traditional rulers spoke with one voice that the next Governorship position is for Enugu East Senatorial Zone while that of 2031 is for Enugu West Senatorial zone”, and called on the peace loving people of the zone to “disregard these lies perpetrated by my brother and friend, Senator Ike Ekweremadu Since the zoning and rotation of Governorship seat and other positions in Enugu State have brought peace and progress in the state.
Ndu emphasised that Ekweremadu has benefited so much from the party and believe that “in the fullness of time he will see reasons and drop this his ambition because he’s a team player.”
