The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Echeng Echeng, has debunked as “complete mischievous scheme by mischief makers,” the report quoting him to have said that the “Police Paid Supreme Price For Soludo’s Governorship Ambition”.
CP Echeng wondered why the journalists that have unfettered access to him and the command’s public relations officer couldn’t call for clarification if they didn’t get what was said.
In a rejoinder signed by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the CP clarified that he was talking about the readiness of the command to provide security during the inauguration of the new Governor, Professor Charles Soludo which took place today and advised the media to always verify their information before taking it to the public.
“The attention of Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to a publication Stating that the Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng made an assertion yesterday 16/3/2022 during a press briefing that “Police Paid Supreme Price For Soludo’s Governorship Ambition”. The Command wish to state that this is not only false but a complete mischievous scheme by mischief makers to bring the command into disrepute.
“It is pertinent to state that the Command has been very active when it comes to responding to calls from journalists and media houses and as such it is expected that calls are supposed to be put through to either the Commissioner of Police or the Police public relations officer to get a clear confirmation of this information before publication.
“To put the record straight, the Command wishes to state as follow, During interactive session with the journalist after the press briefing, CP reacted that the Police and other security agencies are ready to provide security services today been 17/3/2022 (Inauguration ceremony/swearing ceremony). He further said that, we did it before during the election and we will do it again.
“The CP once again urge the media to verify information from the Command and ensure that what is been published is authentic to avoid misleading the general public.”
