The social media space in Enugu State is awash with the news of the emergence of one aspirant from Nkanu East Local Government as the preferred candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election.

Enquiries by JOURNALIST101 reveals that the report the Peter Mbah has emerged as the preferred candidate is fake and has no iota of truth in it.

Various sources that spoke to our correspondent revealed that such activity as peddled by the supporters of the aspirant never happened in Enugu State Government House on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2022.

“As I’m answering your call now, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State isn’t in the coal city,” a source at the Government House told JOURNALIST101.

“As a matter of fact, the Governor left the state in the evening for a party function in a far away state. Please disregard that information as it’s not only fake news but a blatant falsehood,” the source concluded.

A stakeholder from Enugu East Senatorial Zone said he couldn’t believe some persons could descend this low to peddle a “senseless propaganda” like that.

“You are a journalist in this state, how could you even be asking if that silly propaganda is true?” the statesman who was almost loosing his cool asked angrily.

When our correspondent returned the call and made him see reasons to respond to our enquiries, he said that the governor made it clear during the Enugu East rally tagged “Oganiru Enugu East”, the Governor made it clear that:

“…in the fullness of time, dialogue, justice and equity shall take preeminence.”

He continued, “when you take that statement into consideration, you will understand that there’s no way someone can emerge like they’re peddling it.

“Our Governor has always consulted and I’m confident that anyone he presents to the state will be generally accepted because he must have done what he said during the rally on June 17th, 2021.”
