One Ogechukwu Okeke has been arraigned before Enugu East Magistrates Court for allegedly conspiring with others to kill one Chinonso Odenigbo at Abor, Apugoeze in Oji River Council Area of the State with fist blows and sticks.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Bonaventure Nnadozie told the court that Okeke and others now at large on Feb. 14 in Abor, killed Odenigbo with sticks and fist blow to his body and later threw his body into the bush.
He said the committed offences were punishable under section 494 and 274(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol.ll, Revised Laws of Enugu State, 2004.
Nnadozie also tendered police files from Inyi Police Station and State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and their inventories which was admitted by the court.
However, Okeke who was arraigned on two count- charge bordering on murder and use of weapon pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Ngozi Edeani, said the defendant had right to apply for bail at the High Court and ordered that he should be remanded at the Correction Centre, Enugu.
Edeani also ordered that the case file be transmitted to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
She however, adjourned the matter till April 6, for hearing.
