Senator Representing Abia North at the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed delight in the decision of some Chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to withdraw from the race.
The former Abia Governor applauded the aspirants for listening to President Muhammadu Buhari’s suggestion and giving way to a consensus candidate.
Orji Kalu who is the Chief Whip of the Senate made this known after it was reported that six Chairmanship aspirants had withdrawn from the race and backed former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdulahi Adamu to emerge as the next chairman of the party.
He wrote; “I want to sincerely commend all the Chairmanship aspirants of our great party for displaying maturity and putting the interest of party ahead of individual interests.
“Their decision to withdraw and agree to a consensus arrangement as suggested by President Muhammadu Buhari is highly commendable”.
Recall that Journalist101 had earlier reported that six Chairmanship aspirants of the APC; Sen. Tanko Al-Makura, Sen. George Akume, Abdulaziz Yari, Sen. Sani Musa Muhammed, Etsu Muhammed and Salihu Mustapha, had withdrawn from the race and backed Senator Adamu to lead the party.
