Armed bandits has reportedly attacked and bombed a passenger train along Kaduna-Abuja track, on Monday, Peoples Gazette reports.
This is coming two days after bandits had attacked the Kaduna International Airport, leading to the death of aviation workers and scores wounded.
Fidet Okhiria, MD of Nigeria Railway Corporation, confirmed the development to Peoples Gazette, saying efforts are underway to obtain further information about it.
A passenger who is said to be in the train took to his Facebook page and wrote; “Please this is an emergency. We are inside train at the moment. Kidnappers planted explosives and the train engines have been ruined. We are helpless.Abuja to Kaduna train.
“Gunshots still being fired right around us. We are just under the seats praying to God while waiting for help. Since 8pm we hv bn here. Btw Katari to Rijana. I am a living witness… ”
The Facebook user with the name, Anas Iro Danmusa after some minutes updated that men of the Nigerian Army has come to their rescue.
“Alhamdulillah! The army are with us. We are safe!,” he added.
