A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe has cried out over what he called “Monumental betrayal” of the former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu by those believed to be his political sons.
Igbokwe’s outburst is coming barely 24 hours after the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo declared interest to run for president, the same office his political benefactor; Tinubu is interested in.
Journalist101 recalls that the former Lagos Governor had in an interview with newsmen on Monday after his closed-door meeting with APC Governors, denied Osinbajo when he was asked that his son had declared.
The declaration of the Vice president who served Tinubu as his Commissioner for Justice isn’t sitting down well with many Lagos APC members. The Lagos APC Spokesperson said Osinbajo is “a pawn in the chessboard”.
In his own reaction, Igbokwe who’s also a scion of Asiwaju’s political dynasty asked: “Is this how we will pay Asiwaju for helping to lift us up?
“This monumental betrayal has no part 2. I’m totally diminished as a mortal who understand very well the meaning and the power of loyalty.”
In a different post via his Facebook account on Monday, the Nnewi-born politician and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State advised Professor Osinbajo and other “political sons” of Tinubu to forget their ambition and support their boss.
“LET ME DROP IT HERE FOR HISTORY AND POSTERITY: IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE PEOPLE ASIWAJU RAISED UP AND YOU ARE EYEING THE PRESIDENCY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA SHOW RESPECT AND WITHDRAW FROM THE RACE.”
He favoured you personally, go ahead and pay him back now, why must you carry us to pay him back?
