The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the six years imprisonment imposed on a former Federal Director of Pensions (FDP,) Mr John Yakubu Yusuf by a court of Appeal.

Yusuf was also ordered to refund the sum of N22.9b which is part of the police pension fund, to government coffers.

Upholding the Judgement of a court of Appeal in 2018, Justice Tijjani Abubakar warned that it is no longer business as usual for those engaging in fraudulent activities.

Yusuf had approached the Supreme Court to upturn the six years jail term, slammed on him by the court of Appeal.

He also asked the apex court to overturn the N22.9 billion naira he was orderd to refund the government in a 2018 judgment by the appeal court.

Yusuf who was sent to Kuje prison in 2018, had admitted to have misappropriated the said sum, before a high court in Abuja.
