Gunmen earlier today stormed Nkwo Ihitte market in Imo State and attacked adhoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reports says the gunmen numbering about 12 attacked the INEC staffs when they were registering members of the community for the forth coming general elections in 2023.
DAILY POST reports that the INEC officer in charge of the registration process was shot by the gunmen.
According to DailyPost, an eyewitness, Chief Okpegbuo, said: “We had all gathered in the village square in obedience to the directive that we should come out en masse to register.
“Not long we queued, the Gunmen came in, shot sporadically, hoarded many into a room with a threat to kill them while others scampered for safety.”
As at the time of this report, one person have been confirmed killed while the total number of casualty is still unclear.
