A political pressure; Nsukka Democratic Movement, has said that Rt. Hon. Pat Asadu Remains a better choice to represent Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Constituency in the House of Representatives.
NDM made the statement while reacting to the violence that marred the last meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Nsukka local government area, warning their people “to be mindful of their real enemies who intend to endanger their lives for selfish political gains.”
In the statement signed by their convener, Comrade Onyebuchi Igboke, NDM while describing the incident as a “shameful act” added that “It is a clear case of selfish interest of very few Nsukka Political stakeholders that should play politics according to the laid down rules.”
Comrade Igboke reminded the people of Nsukka Council area that the persons championing this violence in their area in the name of fighting for them had failed in the past when they were given the opportunity to execute projects in their area.
“The few elements that are bent in deceiving the peace loving people of Nsukka, with sole aim of making them feel that they are contesting for House Representative to champion the interest of Nsukka more than current person occupying the position had the opportunity to recommend other people for juicy positions in this administration but they chose their immediate family members.
“It’s on record that the worst street light in Enugu State today is the dualised Opi-Nsukka road which was given to one of the accidental defenders of the masses. If he really cares about the betterment of Nsukka people as he is propagating currently why deliver a poor job. The same thing was replicated in 2013, with respect to the 6 Kilometer road- Nru, Edeoballa and Ehalumona which was captured in the State budget of that year. You will agree with me that such person cannot be as liberal than Hon Pat Asadu.
“All the project attracted and executed by Hon. Dr Pat Asadu are evenly distributed between Nsukka and Igboeze South, which is a clear demonstration ot his de-tribalized nature unlike some folks who even played role in thwarting the agenda of Hon. Cosmas Ugwueze’s bid to return to Adada House.”
He charged the people of the constituency to ask these latest anti Asadu apostles what changed, because all of them were the Vanguards of Asadu’s 4th term.
“The trouble that was witnessed last Saturday at PDP meeting was as a clannish character of few elements who headed 4th term agenda, all of a sudden, turn around to contest against the 5th term. The big question remains what actually changed?”
“How could an elite brain wash some blind followers not to allow Hon. Dr Asadu, who is holding our mandate at National assembly and equally number 1 party stakeholders in Nsukka/Igbo South address the party members?
“They became overwhelmed by the resistance they witnessed. It remains the constitutional right of Hon. Pat Asadu to contest for an election and he is not breaking a record as Senator Ike Ekweremmadu did same.
“Now is the time to drum support and show him love as we have never witnessed asphalt road attracted by our federal lawmakers like we’re seeing now. Performance should override politics of turn by turn because the new person may take us backwards.
“The following road projects were delivered just within last 3 years by Hon. Pat Asadu: construction of Nru Road, Agbamere road, Ibagwa inner city Road, Igbo Ano to Orba Road, Umugbabe OVOKO to Uhunowerre, Edem Road, Nguru,Road Iheaka to Ovoko-Agu Road, Itchi Uwani–Nkalagu Road and Itchi Uwenu to Nkalagu Road.
“While the following are to commence soon – Opi Road, Okpaligbo Road,Barracks to Agu Echara Road, Iheakpu Road and Iheaka Road.”
