The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, and frontline governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Obinna Ogba, has assured the people of Ebonyi that he will give them freedom if elected Governor in 2023.

The Senate Committee Chairman on sports said Ebonyi people need freedom from a lot of things because the current administration hasn’t given given them that.

Speaking at his campaign office in Abakaliki over the weekend, Senator Ogba said “Ebonyi people need freedom in terms of good housing scheme, the health sector is dead. The issue of multiple taxation and heavy tax burden is a form of bondage and they need to be freed from it.

On his plan to develop the state, the two-term Senator said: “I have what it takes to give the dividends of democracy to Ebonyi people. Those things they’re lacking, I have an idea on how to give it to them.

“For instance, our civil service is gone; a service where a Director earns N40,000, what do you think will happen? We need to bring back the interest of the people in our civil service.

“Our education sector is in comatose. Today, Ebonyi State University has lost accreditation for so many courses including law. Our teaching hospital that was rated the best in the country when Dr. Sam Egwu was the Governor is now like a clinic. When you go to sports sector, the infrastructures you will find there are the ones provided when I was the Commissioner for sports. Even to attend sports festivals, the state find it very difficult.”

On the issue of zoning, Ogba said he’s a gentleman to the letter and would have respected zoning if there was anything like that in the state and he challenged anyone in the state to produce any document where zoning was decided.

He maintained that the three Senatorial zones in the state contests each election vigorously and no zone has been given any preference during the contest.

He further stated that he’s a consummate party man and has contributed to the growth of the party more than anyone in the state today.

“The current state office of the party was provided by me. I donated 24 vehicles to the party and I have never decamped from the party since I joined in 1998 and I had no reason to dump the party,” he concluded.
