Former President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the purchase of All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential expression of interest and nomination forms on his behalf by a coalition of northern groups on Monday.

The Internet went agog on Monday night when the pictures of the forms and a letter from one of the new generation banks suggesting that the Ex-President has been drafted into the race and his forms purchased for him.

But the Otueke-born politician through his media adviser, Ikechukwu Eze said he did not authorise the purchase of the nomination form.

The statement sighted by Sundiata Post said the action of the Fulani group didn’t have the approval of the former Nigerian leader.

The full statement reads:

“RE: PURPORTED PURCHASE OF APC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION FORM FOR FORMER PRESIDENT JONATHAN

“It has come to the notice of His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, that a group has purportedly purchased Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms, of the All Progressives Congress (the APC), in his name.
We wish to categorically state that Dr. Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorize it.

“While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr. Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, we wish to state that he has not in any way, committed himself to this request.

“We thank the general public for their concern, as we continue to encourage citizen participation in the affairs of the country.

In another development, the pictures of Goodluck Jonathan and the national chairman of the APC, Adamu Abdullahi is currently making the rounds on social media.
