At a time the country is looking for a unifier to unite the shattered fabrics of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has shown that he might not be the Messiah he wants many people to believe.

The recent gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel by Islamic extremists in Sokoto has exposed the former Vice President as a leader wiling to support his kind irrespective of the crime.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant is currently trending on social media after he deleted his earlier post condemning the gruesome murder of Deborah, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education by her classmates that accused her (Deborah) of blasphemous comments against prophet Mohammed.

On Thursday night, Atiku said: “There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice.

“My condolences to her family and friends.”

The above post by Atiku triggered reactions from some extremists that forced the Turaki of Adamawa to delete the posts on Facebook and Twitter.

In efforts to appease his  kits and kin, Atiku took to his Hausa Facebook page to debunk making the earlier posts and said it was made without his knowledge.

“This evening, I received information that a post was made that doesn’t agree with my orders.

“I use this to announce that any post without AA isn’t from me. May God protect- AA.”

The late Deborah was killed after he instructed his classmates to stick to the purpose of the group.

“Our WhatsApp group was created for assignments, tests, exams; not religious messages,” said slain Deborah Samuel.

His recent action is already generating reactions but the Adamawa state born politician prefers to please few of the extremists he believe will vote for him than stand with humanity. He’s carrying on like nothing happened, posting his campaign activities.
