Anambra State Police Command has clarified that the person shot dead at eke Oko, Aguata local government area of the state isn’t their officer.
JOURNALIST101 had reported that gunmen intercepted a security personal along the ever busy market road and shot him dead in the evening of Sunday, 15th May around 6pm.
However, in his reaction, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Anambra State Police Spokesperson said they have recovered the lifeless body of the victim and he’s not one of their officers.
The video a witness sent to our news desk showed the lifeless body wearing a police uniform, thus we reported he is a police officer.
In the terse statement, Ikenga said they’ve commenced investigation into the ugly incident while efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the victim.
“The Anambra State Police Operatives on 15/5/2022 recovered a lifeless body in an NPF T-shirt found along Oko expressway.
“Preliminary Information shows that the yet to be unidentified body is not a member of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Meanwhile investigation has begun to unravel the identity of the deceased and perpetrators of the murder.
“Further development shall be communicated please,” the statement reads.
JOURNALIST101 further gathered that the victim is a member of the local vigilante in the area.
