The large explosion that rocked the Sabon Garri area of Kano state which left an unspecified number of person dead while injuring many others has been described as a terrorist attack by a resident of the area who was at the scene of the incident.
The blast which went off at about 9am, occurred near Winners primary school along Court Road by Aba Road, left many children of the school children injured.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Samaila Dikko said the explosion was a result of gas cylinder explosion and not a bomb blast but the information and video evidence available to us shows otherwise.
According to the eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent, the attackers targeted the school with the school pupils inside before the bomb he was wearing went off.
“What the police said isn’t true,” the eyewitness who doesn’t want his name in print for security reasons told our correspondent over the phone.
“How can the police say this is a gas cylinder explosion and over 400 hundred buildings in this area vibrated as a result of the explosion?”
Continuing, he narrated that: “This is a case of suice bombing. The terrorists were dropped off by a vehicle and they went straight to the school. They were denied entry into the school and it was during this period that the bomb he was wearing went off.
“The story would have been different if the bomber had gained entrance entrance into the school. The explosion brought down the school killing one of the pupils while many was injured.
“After the blast, I counted over 9 bodies including the dismembered body of the suicide bomber who was wearing the bomb. Many people doing business close to the area were also killed.”
The witness said a very disturbing video showing the remains of the alleged bomber and other lifeless bodies of the victims that littered the scene of the blast.
