It was a black Sunday for residents of Anambra State as no fewer than seven persons were killed in the state by unknown gunmen in different parts of the state.
Gunmen had stormed cow market, toll gate in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday afternoon, shooting sporadically at Cattles in the market and also at cattle traders that were selling in the market.
Reports say scores were injured during the attack as people were seen scampering for safety while the attack lasted.
It was reported that two cattle traders were among those killed in the attack while the third victim was a driver conveying rice from Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State to Onitsha.
A police source told our correspondent that men of the state police command have been deployed to the area to maintain peace.
In a related development, a mother of four and her four kids were ruthlessly killed in Ezira community in the state by unknown gunmen.
Reports says the eldest among the kids was not up to 10 years old.
These killings are coming less than 24 hours after the decapitated head of Anambra Lawmaker, Okechukwu Okoye and his campaign DG was hung in a motor park days after his kidnap.
