Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori yesterday clinched the Governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for the 2023 Governorship election in the state.

A total of 824 delegates were accredited to vote in the Governorship primary elections of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) which held in Asaba.

The total of 824 delegates were accredited for the 25 local government area of the state were; Aniocha- North 28 Aniocha South- 34, Oshimili South- 34, Oshimili North-31, Ika North East- 43, Ika South – 37, Ndokwa East – 31, Ndokwa West- 30, Ethiope- East -33, Ethiope West -33, Okpe- 31, Sapele- 34, Ughelli North- 34, Ughelli South- 33, Isoko North- 40, Isoko South- 34, Warri South- 37, Warri North-31, Warri South- West-31, Udu – 31, Uvwie- 31, Burutu- 32, Patani- 29, Bomadi- 31, Ukwuani- 31.

While declaring the outcome of the elections, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Ndubiri Nwobu said that 821 votes were caster while 3 votes were voided.

He then declared Oborevwori as the winner of the PDP Gubernatorial ticket having amassed 590 votes in the primary election which was contested by 13 other aspirants namely; Olorogun David Edevbie, Senator James Manager, Hon Fred Majemite, Deacon Chris Iyowaye, Barr. Peter Mrakpor, Ejaife Odebala, Onajite Gift, Abel Esievo and Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro, Ngozi Bradus, Lucky Idike, Bright Gift, Abel Esievo.

Meanwhile, Former Chief of Staff, Olorogun David Edevbie pulled 113 votes, Fred Majemite pulled 6 votes, Manger pulled 83 votes, Peter Mrakpor 9 votes, Otuaro pulled 9 votes, Ejaife Odebala pulled 3 votes, Angozi Bradus pulled 2 votes, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro pulled 9 votes.

However, one of the aspirants, former Minister of State, Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi had earlier abandoned the contest on basis of unleveled playing ground for all aspirants.

Earlier, Resident Electoral Commissioner of Delta State, Mr Monday Udoh-Tom lauded the party for the peaceful conduct of House of Assembly and House of Representative Primary as he called for the same in the Governorship election for the good of the state.
