Ahead of the 2023 general elections, former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu is making a last minute effort to seek another platform to actualize his governorship ambition after withdrawing from the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a recent effort, Ekweremadu who represents Enugu West Senatorial zone met with Imo Governor, Hope and All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

The trio held a closed-door meeting which lasted several hours at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Although Uzodimma disclosed after the marathon meeting ended that he came to see his ‘friend’ for a tete-a-tete, many believed the meeting was to probably make a case for the embattled former Deputy Senate President.

This recent move corroborates the statement by the State Chairman of the APC, Ugochukwu Agballah, that Ekweremadu made efforts to Hijack the party from Abuja which were resisted by the zonal chairman of the party whom he described as an upright man. He added that delegates led by Senators made efforts to reach the national leadership for the ticket of the party

Agballa who spoke in a world press conference in Enugu on Sunday, said they rejected Ekweremadu’s request to join their party because his ambition is “evil” and stands against every known norm.

The APC chairman further warned that the party would not give Ekweremadu the governorship ticket because he was not from Enugu East District, where the party had zoned its governorship ticket.
