…decries plot to steal her mandate through the backdoor
Dr. Oby Ajih has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Udenu/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency election slated for 2023.
Mrs. Ajih, a Naturopathic medical Practitioner was elected as a consensus candidate in the primary election held on 27th May, 2020 with 100 votes.
The result of the election was declared by the electoral committee chairman, Mr. Eze Emmanuel Kelechukwu.
In her speech, She promised to end the era of docile representation in her constituency and promised to attract dividends of democracy for her people.
Mrs Ajih, a grassroot mobilizer was the coordinator of Buhari/Osinbajo campaign in her ward in 2015 and also an ex-officio of the party in Enugu State.
However, an ugly trend is threatening the victory of Mrs Obi who was duly elected by the party as some forces within the party are trying to short-change her.
In a statement signed by Ikechukwu Stanley, the Media & Communication officer of Oby Campaign Organization, she lamented the plot by some powerful politicians in her Constituency to steal her victory.
“Despite the stark realities and evidence supporting her sole candidature for the said position, there have been several attempts by unscrupulously wicked individuals to replace her name with a strange individual(someone who lost PDP primaries); an act tantamount to the progress of the Party.
“Should such illegality be allowed, the APC faces a great risk of being attacked by the opposition for fielding a candidate who did not follow due process in becoming a member of the party and flag bearer, thus putting our chances of securing the House of Rep at a very great risk.”
Mr. Ikechukwu therefore called on the state Chairman of the party to rise in defence of his principal who’s the duly nominated candidate of the party for the election while highlighting the danges that portends for the party.
“We therefore call on the Chairman of the APC in the State and the entire leadership of the party to rise and defend the mandate of DR. OBY PROMISE AJIH, as she has made sacrifices for our great party and has proven to be more capable to lead the APC to victory both in her constituency and for the state.
“We therefore appeal to the people and leaders of IGBOEZE NORTH AND UDENU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY to RESIST all attempt by Mr. DENNIS AGBO and others whose sole aim is to dampen the glory of the APC in our constituency through that unacceptable actions and attempt on Justice and Fairness.
“It is a matter of great concern that DR. OBY AJIH PROMISE faces these unwarranted attacks on the mandate reposed unto her by the people, and so can confidently deliver the APC come 2023. The strange entity, Mr. Dennis Agbo who lost the recent primaries in PDP cannot be believed, and should be accepted by the Party in truncating due process, and the party’s future.”
