Comr. Onyia, a renown activist and good governance advocate, while addressing the newsmen opined “In our continued efforts to relentlessly uphold our charter of demands anchored on students welfarism, we seek to identify, recognize and familiarize with individuals, managements and organisations that have in one way or the other, contributed positively not only on the advancement and evolution of education but also to our national cohesion and growth. Prof. Charles Eze made us proud through the report of our committee of inquiries and we are here today to honour him, appreciate, encourage and celebrate him for a job well-done”.
The event was graced by the State Chapter Chairman of The Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN) who also doubles as the Chairman of Enugu State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Reverend Emmanuel Ositadinma Edeh who commended the leadership of NANS for their genuineness of heart and for coming back to reward a school administrator who has left office for his past massive land mark projects and achievements during the period he served as a Vice-Chancellor in acting capacity. He prayed for Prof. Charles Eze, citing different bible versions and professing his heartfelt gratitude for such unprecedented move from a student body, describing Prof. Charles as “a hero of our time”.
The recently elected SUG president of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Comr. He hailed Prof. Charles for his open door policy and accessibility, while scoring him “the most workaholic and student friendly VC so far”.
In his vote of thanks, Prof. Eze stated that he was overwhelmed with joy at the honour bestowed on him by NANS in recognition of his modest contributions to the growth and development of ESUT within the 22 months he oversaw the administration of the University as Acting Vice-Chancellor.
He was particularly thrilled about the fact that the honour came at a time he had left office, which is an indication that there were no strings attached to it. He stated that the unique recognition will, no doubt, motivate him to always strive to make a positive difference, if given the opportunity to serve humanity in whatever position it will please God to place him.
