The first elected chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Barr. Ben Nwoye has apologized to former Governor of the State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Barr. Peter Mbah, over the recent comments made against them by Barr. Ugo Agballa whom the national leadership of the party recognise as the chairman of the party in the State.
The apology is in reaction to the “vituperation” of Agballa over the weekend where he (Agballah) in strongest words, condemned Nnamani, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah as well as former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
But speaking to journalists on Thursday, Nwoye said he was apologizing to Nnamani, Ekweremadu and Mbah on behalf of Enugu APC “on the diatribe by the factional chairman of APC Enugu State.”
Nwoye appealed to them to understand that “Ugo Agballa’s ranting does not represent the views of APC members in Enugu State or the views of the progressives nationwide.”
Nwoye pointed out that instead of Agballa to “concentrate on the myriad of cases challenging him as a member of APC, he decided to place himself in a imperial garment, like American Chihuahua, he decided to call into battle, a 500-pounds polar bear. He doesn’t have what it takes to match his word with action.
“Senator Chimaroke Nnamani was a two-term governor who by every measure, did very well for Enugu people and has now been returned to go back to the Senate for a third term because Ugo Agballa’s candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone is nowhere a match to him.
“If the best Agballah has to offer is to abuse a serving Senator, I apologise on behalf of Enugu APC.
“Ugo Agballah has no moral latitude to challenge or stop Ekweremadu from joining APC as he’s free to join if he wants to. This is someone who has been Deputy Senate President for two times and even made history by becoming a Senate President under an APC controlled Senate.
“Both men are far ahead of Ugo Agballa, thus, for Ugo Agballah to begin to spew all manner of venom is touting, calling people terrorists, evil, that’s not the kind of politics we should be playing in Enugu State, that’s not the role of opposition, that’s touting, that’s wrong.”
Nwoye also congratulated the other political parties for giving their tickets to candidates from Enugu East Senatorial Zone in line with the zoning arrangement in the state.
