There was wild jubilation at the football pitch of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, as the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Enugu, 2022 Integrity Cup came to an end.
The competition which started on the 15th of May, began with eight teams from different branches and kicked off from a quarter finals stage.
The game which was declared open by the South-East Regional Pastor of Dunamis, Pastor Solomon Ipila began on a high note.
Pastor Ipila while addressing the teams and organizers of the competition expressed joy in such development adding that it’s an avenue for winning souls to Christ.
He encouraged the players to inform their friends and loved ones of such competition and bring them to church so they can be members of the church and be eligible to play in subsequent competitions as such.
The competition started with the host branch, Dunamis Enugu central as they opened the competition with a 2-1 victory against Dunamis Zik Avenue at the Liberty Estate stadium, Enugu.
While Dunamis Emene Branch shined by demolishing Ngwo branch with a 3-0 victory.
Others are;
Abakpa branch 2-0 Nsukka Branch
Agbani 1-0 Achara layout.
In the semi-finals stage, Dunamis Enugu central defeated Dunamis Agbani with a lone goal victory whole Dunamis Emene sent Dunamis Abakpa home with an impressive 4-1 victory.
The final of the competition which was played between Dunamis Enugu Central and Dunamis Emene on the 13th of June 2022, attracted members from both locations of the Church and viewers from different places to the football pitch of UNEC.
The game which was a hard fight could not be won by any of the teams at full time despite a player from Enugu central earning a red card after committing a foul in the second half of the game.
The game was taken into penalty kicks with the goal keeper from Emene saving the day by stopping two penalty kicks from getting to the back of the net.
The final whistle was blown as the match ended 4-2 on penalties as Dunamis Emene won the first edition of the Dunamis Enugu Integrity Cup.
In his closing remark at the end of the competition, Pastor Solomon Ipila said there was no looser in the competition as everyone was a winner in Christ.
He thanked God that the competition ended on a peaceful note as no injury was recorded through out the competition.
The pastor encouraged other teams that couldn’t win the trophy to work hard and see how they can perform better in subsequent competitions.
On his part, the resident Pastor of Dunamis Emene, Pastor Jude Kelechi hailed the his team for coming out victorious. He appreciated the players for carrying out the sole purpose of the competition which was evangelism.
He encouraged the members of the team not to relent in their soul winning task as more souls are expected to be won for Christ.
