Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer, says the choice of Delta state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the preferred running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a “terrible” one.
PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday, announced the former Senator as his preferred running mate.
In his speech while making the announcement, said: “You know him to be a fighter; you know him to care about winning; you know him to care about good governance; and you know him to care about our people. Now, my dear friends, let’s do the disciplined hard work necessary to win this election.”
But reacting via his twitter account, Inibehe asked what Okowa has done as Delta State Governor in the past seven years, adding that his selection by Atiku confirms his position that the ruling class only care about themselves.
“Okowa is a terrible running mate. What has he done in Delta State in the last seven years other than wasting public funds and accumulating debts?
“Atiku choosing him as his running mate reaffirms my position that the current ruling class is cannibalistic and fatalistic.
“All that they care about is themselves. Atiku is bad just as his running mate.”
