Hon Nnamdi Odo, the Representative of Udenu Legislative Council, Saturday, awarded two hun and twenty five thousand naira (N225,000) to 15 Students in his Constituency.
The councilor representing Obollo Afor Ward in Udenu LGA Legislative council made the cash donation during the monthly party Ward meeting at Obollo Afor.
Nnamdi Odo said the gesture which will take care of the termly school fees of the beneficiaries is being funded from his salary.
He stated that the award is in fulfilment of his pledge to set aside seventy-five thousand naira (N75, 000) from his monthly salary. He said that this is his own way of saying thank you to his people for giving him the opportunity to represent to them at the local government council.
In his words,
“I am a product of collective interest, I was elected to represent my people and I am under obligation to give back to them. I wish I can give more but for a start, let me take up the payment of the school fees of fifteen students whose parents are faithful to the party. It is a way of encouraging them to remain steadfast.”
Reacting to the gesture, the ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osike thanked the councilor for his benevolence, and noted that “this is the first time in the history of the ward: the first time a councilor is sharing his salary with the people.
“Nnamdi Odo I pray you continue to grow politically so as to sustain the vision you have for your people.”
Speaker after speaker praised the kind gesture of the Hon. Member and advised other stakeholders and leaders from the area to emulate what the young lawmaker has done.
