Muhammad Dawud, a Researcher from the Department of Political Science, Nigerian Defence Academy, has commended Nigeria Police Force on their Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, Initiative.
POCACOV is NPF Community Policing Initiative and Public Relations Tool which works with different stakeholders and Multi Agencies, galvanizing their support and partnership as well as enhancing participation towards problem solving, for a safe, peaceful and secured Communities.
He gave the Commendation on 15/6/2022 when he visited the POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu to explore the materials at the centre for his work on Community policing and POCACOV Paradigm as well as to evaluate evidence-based policing Outcomes using the instrumentality of POCACOV.
CSP Muhammad Dawud whose doctorate Research work revolves around Nigeria Police Force and Internal Security operations; A study of community policing in Nigeria, said “I am happy to be here and impressed with responses together with Research materials gotten in terms of POCACOV activities both in school, community and Family.
He highlighted that “POCACOV is a laudable Initiative which will go along way in solving problem and enhancing partnerships, solving problems and will ultimately bridge the existing gap between the Police and the other policing Actors/Stakeholders thereby creating an avenue for mutual Trust for Improved Service delivery.
Responding, the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, thanked Researcher Muhammad Dawud for choosing to explore POCACOV Resource Centre and evaluating its evidence-based Policing Outcomes which will aid him on his successful Research on Community policing.
Amaraizu pointing out that “POCACOV is involved in Advocacy, Awareness Creation/Sensitization, Reorientation and Mentoring.
“The POCACOV Resource Centre is involved in development of modules for stakeholders mapping and engagement, measurement of impact of the campaign activities for review and evaluation.”
He further stated that “POCACOV activities revolves around the school, family and Community.
“POCACOV consistently engage policing actors, Stakeholders, Youths, Artisans, political Class, Community leaders amongst others using activity base program, committee membership program and Forum base programmes.
“POCACOV is involved in Value Reorientation of young minds and youths for strategic Leadership direction, self discovery with a view to cutting the supply chains and conveyor belts of their involvement into membership into unlawful societies (cultism), indulgence into substance and drug abuse, violent behaviour as well as other vices.
“POCACOV consistently works to strengthen Policing accountability for improved service delivery and for a safe, peaceful and secured communities through regular visits to schools, communities amongst others as a kick start solution and these activities are regularly evaluated through feedback mechanism which enables measurement of impact of the expected outcome of POCACOV Activity.
Highlight of the visit was the handing over of some campaign materials containing community policing information/activity and which will aid the Researcher; Muhammad Dawud.
