AWKA-The Senatorial candidate of Labour Party (LP) for Anambra Central, Dr Victor Umeh, had said his reconciliation with the former Governor of Anambra State and the presidential flag-bearer of the party, Mr Peter Obi, was Divine.

Umeh, who was addressing a press conference at Awka, the state capital, explained that the war between them has ended.

“We got separated not because we where fighting over the resources of the state but because I insisted that there must be local government election which he disagreed with at that time.

“I have been fully involved in Anambra Politics for the past twenty years. I joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2001 when it was still an association. Myself, Peter Obi woth others, registered it in 2002.

“It was a tough begining but we kept struggling. Peter Obi became the governor in 2006. I played a very significant role in making sure he reclaimed his mandate in Awka after which I became the party’s Chairman.

“We both have the resilient spirit but people who never wished us well became jealous of what we have done together and sowed a bad seed so as to divide us.

“People who where not part of the struggle from the inception found a way to come in. In 2012, we had disagreement to the point that we could not work together again.

“People kept us apart for ten years and we are back together without a reconciliation meeting. God orders the steps of men. Anything that will happen, will happen as God wills it. Am a man of uncommon faith in God. Am a good christian and politics cannot change me”. Victor Umeh stated.
