Enugu SME Centre has presented over 100 brand new laptops to students and young entrepreneurs in the state.
The laptops is in line with the ‘Enugu State Equipment Support Grant’ of the centre geared towards assisting micro, small and medium enterprises in the state.
The Director General of Enugu SME Centre and the Special Adviser to Enugu State Governor on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Arinze Chilo Offiah, while making the presentation to the beneficiaries on Thursday, said: “this program is the first of its kind and we are happy we’re able to provide FREE laptops to qualified young talents.”
Speaking on how the beneficiaries emerged, Mr. Offiah stated that; “The vetting process was a rigorous one as we had a lot of zealous applicants and we needed to make sure that the beneficiaries would utilize this opportunity to the fullest.
“This Equipment Support Grant will help Entrepreneurship and students in their entrepreneurial endeavours, studies, and most importantly help create a diverse source of income.
“We are super excited for the beneficiaries and can’t wait to see them accomplish their individual goals through the laptop grant.
Amongst the beneficiaries are copywriters, graphic designers, video editors, photographers, programmers, etc.
He assured that Enugu SME under his watch and with the unflinching support of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will continuously look for innovative ways to help and support MSME’s in Enugu State.
Mr. Chilo Offiah also said that this is the “second phase of the Enugu State Equipment Support Initiative”, while disclosing that there would be subsequent batches for more people to benefit.”
With the continued support of His Excellency Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, ESME beneficiaries are groomed with the capacity to create quality jobs, revitalize livelihood, commercialize new technologies, and strengthen the local and national economy.
