The minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has charged the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State not to yield to Intimidation nor threats of suspension by some elements within the party.

Minister Onyeama gave the charge over the weekend during an interactive session with the members of his ‘Kwusike family’- his political structure in the state.

The Minister who was reacting to rumours of suspension by Ugochukwu Agballa led Enugu APC should he hold any meeting in the state without his permission, called for unity in the party adding that Kwusike compliments the APC and not competing with it.

“We have to be united as members of the APC, stay together and focused on how to win the forthcoming elections. We won’t yield to Intimidation of and threat of suspension.

“Nobody should make you feel less a member of the APC. We’ll stay together, fight for ourselves, fight for our party and fight for our state,” the Minister said.

On the essence of the the interactive session, Onyeama said he wants to use the opportunity to feel their pulse and give them the opportunity to express themselves adding that he understands that a lot has happened after the convention but he wants them to remain steadfast and focused while enjoining them to eschew the politics of self and what they will gain in the immediate.

The participants raised issue of marginalisation of women and youths in the party as well as exclusion of the state from Federal Government grants and urged the Minister to use his good office to address some of these concerns.

Responding to some of the questions, Onyeama said the party members needs to work assiduously to ensure APC is enthroned in the state because it will provide ample employment opportunities for them. He also said that he believes the women would be given 50 percent of the elective positions.

Benson Eze, former chairman of all local government Chairmen in the party said “Kwusike isn’t here to fight the APC but to compliment the effort of the party in the state.

Juliet Egbo, the candidate of the party for Enugu North and South Federal Constituency also harped on unity as that’s the only way the party can win elections in the state.

She also promised to organise a free skill acquisition training for 50 persons from her Constituency.
