…says some of the stakeholders where lying about the state of things in Enugu
A chieftain of the Labour Party and convener of 40m ballot revolution Comr. Kennedy Iyere, has descended heavily on of the candidates seeking the Governorship ticket, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga over the action of his supporters which he described as “moral abberation”.
Comr. Iyere, was reacting to the action of the supporters of the former commissioner of Environment, aimed at disrupting the event organised for their presidential candidate; Peter Obi.
The supporters of Edeoga had stormed Kobb event centre; venue of the ‘Charity Begins at Home’ event organised for Obi-Datti Presidency and made efforts to disrupt the event which had in attendance, National leaders of the party, such as the Labour Party National Vice Chairman (Representing TUC), Mrs. Ladi Illiya, National Vice Chairman (Representing NLC), Barr. Akinbade Oyelekan, National Legal Adviser, Dr. Tanko Yanusa, designated Chief Spokesperson to Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation, Barrister Beatrice Itubo, Rivers State NLC Chairperson who’s also LP 2023 Rivers State Governorship Candidate and Comrade Kenneth Robinson, National Publicity Secretary of PANDEF and Spokesperson for the Southern & Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF).
Journalist101 learnt that Edeoga had told those that cared to listen that he was the brain behind “CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME” initiative whose Billboards flooded the street of Enugu. When he eventually learnt that the entire concept is being championed by Captain Everest Nnaji who’s rumoured as the favourite to pick up the Guber Ticket of the Labour Party, he mobilized his supporters to scuttle the event, alleging that an “impostor” has hijacked the event.
“NOTE THAT AN IMPOSTOR HAS HIJACKED THE CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME FOR PETER OBI WALK HOLDING MORROW MORNING SATURDAY. CONVERGE AT THE KOBB EVENT MORROW MORNING BY 11AM TO FRUSTRATE THE EVIL PLANS OF THOSE WHO WANT HAVE BEEN PAID TO DISORGANISE LABOUR PARTY. YRS HON CHIJIOKE EDEOGA LABOUR PARTY GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE FOR ENUGU STATE,” was the exact message he circulated to his members and to some WhatsApp platforms in Enugu on Friday.
Obeying Edeoga’s instruction, a handful of his supporters stormed the venue and made attempt to cause nuisance before they were summarily dispatched by the security operatives.
An obviously infuriated Comr. Iyere lambasted Edeoga for sending his supporters to disrupt an event all Elders of the party are in attendance.
It’s a mark of lack of moral and “moral aberration for someone that wished to fly the flag of our party to attempt to disrupt an event attended by top echelons of the party.
“He’s not worthy to be a Councillor!” angry Iyere said.
Speaking further, he said Captain Everest Nnaji popularly known as Odengene was never his friend but when he came to Enugu to look for someone with capacity to win election “he was recommended to me and coming in contact with him, I realised he’s a man with capacity.”
He also accused Bath Nnaji, former Minister of power of lying to the party about a lot of things which he realised weren’t exactly as he painted it.
He went further to accuse a former governor of old Anambra State and in law to Chijioke Edeoga; Okwesilieze Nwodo of avoiding his calls “because he knows I’m in town and he can’t stand my questions on a lot of things I asked him.”
“Give Odengene the ticket and you will see campaign and capacity,” he conclude.
Commenting on Peter Obi Presidency, Iyere said “for the first time, all Nigerians are supporting an Igbo Man to be president and Enugu can’t afford to be sitting on the fence.
“This is the first time Nigerians are seeking for a national healing and an Igbo Man is leading this healing process. For the first time, Igbos have a product that’s accepted by all Nigerians.”
