In a move political commentators described as the commencement of the much talked about ‘crushing of his enemies’ by Governor Nyesom Wike, 868 plots of land belonging to an ardent supporter of Atiku Abubakar has been retrieved by the State government.
Rivers Assembly reversed ownership of the 868 plots of land occupied in Rivers State by Daar Communications, founded by High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; who’s very visible in the Atiku’s Presidential project.
The vast land housing all AIT operations in Rivers and the Southsouth is located along the NTA road in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
There were indications that the development might begin a major crisis between Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike and Dokpesi.
The lawmakers’ decision was following a report presented during plenary by the Assembly House Committee on Public Complains and Petitions, which investigated land acquisition petitions against Dokpesi’s company by four host communities.
The committee’s Chairman and Chief Whip of the 32-member state legislature said the land had been given to the Rivers State Government citing wrongful acquisition.
Some of the lawmakers accused Daar Communications Plc of illegal acquisition of the land.
Speaker Ikuinyi Awaji-Ibani said Daar Communications Plc should open fresh negotiations with the State Government on the property.
The host communities, that wrote the petitions, are Ozuoba, Rumuosi, Rumuekini and Rumuokwashi, all in Obio/Akpor.
While commissioning a Osisioma Flyover in Aba on Monday, Wike assured that he will crush his enemies because God has given him the power to do that.
